Lyndsey is the Marketing Manager at amBX and is a CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing (L4) and CIM Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing (L6) graduate.

Why did you choose this qualification?

I wanted to progress further in marketing, and after completing Level 4 with my previous employer, I felt that Level 6 would equip me with more skills and knowledge to allow me to keep growing. I knew that I would be able to apply the assignments directly to current challenges faced in my role, giving me and amBX a dual benefit.

What did you discover about yourself whilst studying?

I am very organised and disciplined and work best when I complete a little bit of work each week so that I don’t get overwhelmed by the task.

Has studying with nesma helped you in your career?

Since completing level 6 in Digital Marketing, I have been asked to join the senior management team and given more autonomy in my role.

What did you enjoy most about studying with nesma?

Meeting fellow marketers and having experienced lecturers who offer expert guidance and support.

What type of things do you do differently now?

More thorough plans, trying new strategies and tactics to achieve the marketing and business goals

What words of advice would you give anyone considering a career in marketing/PR?

Two critical skills are organisation and being an excellent communicator. If you have both skills, you can learn more niche marketing-specific skills to advance further.

What are the significant changes within your industry at present?

There’s currently no set pathway to achieve net zero in the built space; smaller landlords cannot afford the cost involved in complete retrofits to meet new standards, cybersecurity will become more of an issue as buildings become more connected, and integration between building systems is also an issue.

Big players are buying/partnering with smaller, more agile companies instead of developing solutions themselves, allowing them to fast-track their services. There’s also a need to attract people back into offices after COVID. There is currently a surplus of office stock as people are working from home more – landlords are looking for additional benefits they can add to create more of an experience in the workplace.

What do you enjoy most when you aren’t doing the day job?

Hiking, running, creative projects such as pottery/writing and cooking.

Studying the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing at Level 4 builds on your tactical marketing skills, and the CIM Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing at Level 6 helps to develop your strategic marketing skills. Both will enhance your skill set and industry knowledge, and the CIM Diploma is equivalent to an undergraduate degree.
