Hannah works for Parkdean Resorts as their Owner Communication and Engagement Manager and completed the CIPR CIPR Specialist Diploma – Digital Communications in 2021.
What was the reason behind choosing to study this qualification?
Although I’ve worked in Marketing and Communications roles for a long time, I’ve never studied a formal qualification in communications, so I thought it was time to put that right.
What did you discover about yourself in the process?
I learned that I need to give myself more credit regarding my knowledge and experience. Plus, I found out that I really enjoyed this formal approach to personal development.
Has studying with nesma helped you in your career?
The course has been extremely valuable in enhancing my knowledge of digital tools and strategy, which are essential for my job role.
What did you enjoy most about studying?
The virtual live teaching format suited me well and meant I could undertake peer to peer learning from others around the country rather than just the local area, which would have been the case with a classroom-based course.
What type of things do you do differently now?
My confidence in working as a communications professional has increased, and I feel well equipped to take on new challenges.
What words of advice would you give anyone considering a career in PR/Comms?
If you’re looking for a varied career with the opportunity to specialise in many different areas, this could be the role for you.
What are the significant changes within your industry at present?
As a result of the pandemic, we’ve seen some people trying out UK holidays for the first time. It would be great to think that after experiencing what UK holidays have to offer that these people would consider another one as their first choice next time.
What do you enjoy most when you aren’t doing the day job?
When I’m not busy making memories with my two children, you’ll find me trying to squeeze in as much exercise as possible – I’ve done the Great North Run three times.
