What I do for nesma
I’m a tutor on the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing – Level 4.
My background
I’ve worked in marketing and communications roles for many years in a range of sectors and organisations. Until recently I worked as Reward & Research manager for Durham University where a large part of my role was internal communications, the development and implementation of a new staff benefits offer and a staff survey. I’ve also worked at Parkdean Resorts as Direct Marketing Manager, at Newcastle Building Society as Customer Database Manager, Royal Mail, a London Law Firm and a publishing house – my first ‘real’ job where I learned to answer the phone and be a sharp-eyed proof reader!
My particular skills and experience
My own CIM studies were at a local college and the people I met while studying and the information and ideas we shared were invaluable in my career. As well as gaining a valuable qualification, I met some inspiring people. I’m currently taking a career break to enjoy time with my family and combining NESMA tutoring with volunteering at our local Foodbank.
Why I love my job!
I love communications in all its forms, I like to plan and get things done but most of all I love to help people develop their skills and confidence; to help them understand the power of marketing and implement what they learn in an intelligent and practical way that achieves results.
